Description: December 14, 2009 - A view of star trails taken in the middle of a pine forest in Fonte da Telha, Portugal. The trail in the bottom of the image is the light from a boat passing in the Atlantic Ocean. In the image we can see the Path of the planet Mars, the Regulus Star, Castor, Pollux, M45 The Pleiades, several stars like Sirius, Betelgeuse and Rigel, and even the Orion Nebula. The image was taken during the Geminids meteor shower, so many small meteors are visible as well. The tracks that are farther north of the celestial equator bend slightly to the left, and those to the south of the celestial equator bend slightly to the right. Those at the center of the image, in the area of the celestial equator, have a straight line.
