Civil War print depicting the Union Army's capture of Fort Fisher. The capture of Fort Fisher was a joint assault of Union Army and Naval forces. Fort Fisher was refer to as the Gibraltar of the South and was the last major coastal stronghold of the Confederacy. The battle took place January 13 - 15, 1865 outside of Wilmington, North Carolina.
